AIDS Awareness Ride
I was fortunate enough today (12/1) to document a 27 mile bike ride to represent the 27 years of HIV/AIDS.
It is days like this when i realize there are so much more important things in life than my morning Caramel Apple Spice from Starbucks.
I was deeply touched hearing the tragic stories of loss and feeling these peoples pain. However, hanging out of the red mustang convertable pace car, camera firmly in hand for the 3 1/2 hour ride around Los Angeles, was quite a rush. It will be an honor editing this footage into a heartfelt message for raising awareness and the continuing fight for a cure.

Your capture of the day is truly incredible. I was on a huge “high” for a week after the ride. You just brought back that “high”. Thank you for giving us the oppurtunity to relive those amazing feelings. I know I can speak for the rest of the AIDS/LifeCycle Staff by saying it was an honor to assist on this project. Someday, after we have found a cure, we can look at this video and remember how we all banned together to bring awareness to the world and to show our part of the battle in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Again, thank you!

This was an amazing video. You are a true artist to be able to cover the meaning of the ride in such a short time. Thank you.

Thank you very, very much for the memories. I was so excited when I heard of this ride but was sad that I wasn’t going to be able to ride in LA. I did take part in World AIDS Day in beautiful San Francisco. My partner Jess and my niece Andrea took part in the LA ride. So I was with you all in spirit.
After watching this amazing footage, at 1:37 I heard the names I submitted to Brian Hodes. They are my big brother Robert Marez, brother-in-law Roy Muao, dear friend Steve Keller, Brian Plymale, roller derby skaters & friends Bruce Eshner, Jesus Isaac Negron, Eddie Dresser, Charles Gipson, Johnny Wrice, Cal Stephans and disco singer Sylvester James. This brought tears to my eyes. Thank you very much for the touching video and thank you to everyone that took part and making this happen.

Thanks for sharing your video! This was my first AIDS day ride and this past June was my first ALC ride!
I’m really looking forward to riding in 2008 with everyone and hope to see more of your work.

Wow! What a powerful reminder of an even more powerful day. AWE INSPIRING!! Truly, this day, this video, inspires awe within.
The day was magical. I helped put up the AIDS Quilt panel and then when I stopped to admire it, to pay a moments tribute and memorial to the people there, I saw my late husbands panel.
We came together and will continue to come together, until there IS a cure!
Thank you! Truly, this video is a blessing!

What a rush! World AIDS Day is such a large concept, that a simple bike ride can envelope so much of the ideal - let’s remember those whom we have lost.
What an amazing feeling to be a part of this day, and to still celebrate living with AIDS.
Thanks Brian, Thanks David. Thanks to God.
